htc touch 3g originally come with windows mobile 6.1.Now a days new windows mobile 6.5 O.S is available to upgrade.But you can not directly upgrade your htc touch 3g to windows mobile 6.5. All htc windows mobile is locked for particular o.s .If you try to overnight your o.s then your mobile can be dump.So here is given steps for how you can upgrade your htc touch 3g windows mobile 6.1 to windows mobile 6.5.
Steps:

upgrade to windows 6.5 will erase all of your contacts and sms so batter to back up it.If you dont know how to backup then follow my post windows mobile backup contact messages.
applying hard spl allow you to flash any htc t3232 compatible rom to your htc windows mobile.
